I got towards the end of disc one of Lost Odyssey last night. I don’t really want to post spoilers here but I will say that towards the end of this first part of the story there are some pretty emotional scenes that involve the death of a character.

I’m not ashamed to say that the tears were streaming down my face at that point. A combination of being a father myself and having gone through that sort of thing.

It is certainly a very powerful section of the game that will stay for a long time in my memory. Very rarely, for me at least, has a task in a computer game actually been as emotionally moving and difficult to complete as the preparations for the event that followed. But the story, and the game as a whole, is so much stronger by it’s inclusion.

I’m looking forward to disc 2 and the rest of the game but I am hoping that it’s slightly less of an emotional rollercoaster.
